debaters with a nick for cliques. .......fail

this past weekend at the arkansas regional qualifier has been very competitive, very stressful, and not much time for making friends. everywhere i noticed the cliques that debaters are always known for. but this tourney, i set out to try to break that clique. sadly, that effort was not to make much headway. even among the arkansas debaters there was still that little "who are these texans anyway?" as we are in the NCFCA, a christian league as it were, i strongly urge a(not a aff/neg ballot) breaking of the mold for all debaters. there were very few people who actually tried to make a friend of me (do you know how hard it is to get some people to shake hands with you?). i know that in the NCFCA there is a strong competitive atmosphere, but we should not let that get in the way of getting to know someone. you would think that as debaters, it would be easier to link with someone as well as we do with our opponents case. you know, sometimes, it's no understatement when people say that homeschoolers are a social hazard.

"It's a long time till lunch, and no bananas."

President Obama is trying to feed us a lot of food, but it's not very healthy, and it won't be ready for a while. I'm talking about the bailout. there is so much to say about it, and, well, yeah. so far the government has taken $4.6165 trillion dollars from our taxpaying pockets, that's more than all of these big government expenditures.

• Marshall Plan: Cost: $12.7 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $115.3 billion
• Louisiana Purchase: Cost: $15 million, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $217 billion
• Race to the Moon: Cost: $36.4 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $237 billion
• S&L Crisis: Cost: $153 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $256 billion
• Korean War: Cost: $54 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $454 billion
• The New Deal: Cost: $32 billion (Est), Inflation Adjusted Cost: $500 billion (Est)
• Invasion of Iraq: Cost: $551b, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $597 billion
• Vietnam War: Cost: $111 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $698 billion
• NASA: Cost: $416.7 billion, Inflation Adjusted Cost: $851.2 billion

TOTAL: $3.92 trillion

that's like $686 billion less than the crisis we're in now. and mixed in with all this is a bunch of pork! all of these taxpayer dollars are not going to pay off overnight! this barbecue isn't very good for you, and it has a lot of fat. did you know that to smoke barbecue takes like 24x the amount of time it takes to cook some dish normally? besides, all this money can't come from your pockets, right? some tons of it is coming from other countries, such as communist China. so to get the US. inside out of debt, we get the US. gov. in debt! and if you think about it, the gov. gets more leverage over us, they basically own GM, Citi Bank, and AIG. and is the economy getting any better now? some speculators say it will take at least ten years to kick in! or as my mother put it at breakfast one morning, "It's a long time till lunch and no bananas." what we need is the free market.

the audacity of BLOGS, or, "the few, the brave"

we bloggers are one of the few to SHOUT our thoughts to the world. we are the backbone of the "American Think Tank". with the criticism staring us down, we don't back away. we boldly tell what we think. this is, the "Audacity of Blogs"!

"We Cooked And Barbecued Stew!"

"Who?"
"The Whatleys!"
"..."
"The stew cooking at the Whatleys! They have like 300-400 people attend every year at their house!"
"...Ohhhh. Who are the Whatleys?"
"They're great people who live in Alabama. They have huge pots, and a ginormungus barbecue cooker that sits in their yard!"
"Sounds really bodiddly! when are you leaving?"
"Tomorrow morning, at about 7:00. Though we'll probably leave at about eight. You know how it goes."
"Yeah, always leave an hour late. Well see ya next week!"
"Ok! Bye!"
"Have fun!"
"You too!"
"Doing what, school?"
"You know what I mean."
"Haha! See ya later!"...

Fear of the Mystery!!!!

I was thinking about God a few days ago, and what it was meant to fear the Lord. I had always found it hard to fear a man who died on a cross, or a God who I had not really seen firsthand. Then it struck me, I don't know hardly anything about this, Awesome, Mysterious, God, that I had been trying to learn about! I only know what the bible tells me of Him, and even it, tells us that He is a mystery! "Great indeed, we confess is the mystery of Godliness." I Timothy 3:16
A realization of this God who is not tame, of whom I know virtually nothing! Then I saw the Fear of the Lord! I am standing in the presence of the King of Glory!

May God Shine Down On You Forever And Ever Ect.!

i felt i had to write this note before i forgot, and also to help remind me. for awhile, i've been feeling a lack of God's presence in my life, i've always had a desire to have Him in me ever since i can remember the first time i felt Him, but today was a really "more depressing" day than the rest. so as i was working, leeland started playing on my ipod, then i realized, that i had had a lack of God's praise in my life, and if i had kept my part of the plan, i would have God in me. as it says in the shorter catechism

"What is the chief end of man?
Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever."

man's purpose on this earth is to "praise God forever and ever ect., and by doing so enjoy Him forever and ever ect.. i hope this will help any of you who have the same trouble that i've had.
